Molly Brannigans under construction in Bethlehem

Construction is about to begin on the building on the corner of W. Broad and N. New streets in Bethlehem.

The Express-Times reported in November that the developer planned to move forward with the project, which since 2005 has included an Irish pub, Molly Brannigans, and 24 residential apartments on the second and third floors of the building.

Molly Brannigan’s has three other locations, in Erie, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg. Its menu features "traditional" Irish fare, as well as typical pub grub like wings and quesadillas, and of course, beer.

While you're downtown for Musikfest this week, walk up to New Street to take a peek at the former home of Farr's shoe store before the barriers goes up. The building faces the Bank of America building and One West Broad, where Melting Pot is located.

  1. I will believe it when I see it.... although, it's an awesome spot and I hope it comes through!

They had one in Scranton, but they are embroiled in court over monies owed. The Scranton version crashed and burned...word is that downtown Scranton is the Bermuda triangle of businesses. I visited one in Harrisburg and liked it, so I hope it succeeds here.
